Miller Electric Mfg. — a stalwart of the Appleton business community for nearly a century — opened a downtown Milwaukee office with a plan to recruit engineers who prefer a larger city over relocating to Appleton. The Miller Electric Milwaukee Technology Center is in the Schlitz Park Keghouse building at 111 W. Pleasant St. The company leased 6,000 square feet and already hired two engineers with a goal of 20, Miller Electric engineering director Chuck Romenesko said Tuesday. The company has about 1,500 employees at its plant and offices in Appleton, including about 100 engineers, Romenesko said.
